Religious Rant

Thomas Paine once said that 'all national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit'. Though I do not believe he was gifted with the powers of prophecy, the way the churches of America try to control the political realm in their power plays for the domination of the American People show his words to be true. The morals of the churches are at an all time low, yet the American People want so much to "belong" that they are willing to ignore the corruption therein.

It is that greed and corruption sweeps the nation. Between the priests being accused and convicted of sodomizing little boys, to 'Christian' churches or affiliations embezzling money, to the churches trying to control what women do with their bodies, to the list of rules and regulations that every church requires the individual to obey to be a part of their affiliation, the American People are being dominated by their religion. The more the American People buy into the Religious Right, the more they become slaves to their religions. The more political power the Religious Right has, the less free will the American People will have. God gave us free will, and the Religions Right wants to take it away.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Here is my creed. I believe in One God, Creator of the Universe. That he governs it by his providence. That he ought to be worshiped. That the most acceptable service we render to Him is doing good to His children." Yet, charity is almost gone. It is no longer personal. The American People give vast sums of money to the Church or "Causes", but can not help out their neighbor next door in their time of crisis. Many Americans don't even know their next door neighbors' names.

I believe religion needs to become personal again. The American People need to take back their spirituality. Take it away from the churches and personalize their religions. Until spirituality becomes personal again, greed and corruption will haunt the Religions of Our Nation and the Entire World.

Contributor's Note

Kat Sanders is Owner/Designer for Creative Pride. Creative Pride started in January of 2008 as an online chainmail and beaded jewelry store at http://store.nd2cre8.com/. As that business was getting off the ground, Kat found that as a way to sell my chainmail creation is was wonderful, as a way to make money, not so much. So, Kat started looking for other sources of revenue and Creative Pride went from an online store to a marketing business, which includes writing articles.

Please visit my company website: http://creativepride.ws and see how my business is growing!
